Exercise is good for your body ... usually
Feb 23, 2023Your body is the only one you're going to get. So, I think it's worth investing time to take care of it.
Most people would agree with this statement. But when thinking about how to best take care of one's body, agreement can be hard to find. There are as many philosophies as there are ideas about exercise today.
Really, when I think about all the things that a person could do for exercise, I realize that my list is only limited by my imagination. This doesn't mean that everything that a person could do for exercise would be good for that person. Far from it. So, what should you do? A few questions and a recommendation....
- Where is your body currently (re:physical condition)?
- Where do you want to go (goals)?
- How much time and energy are you willing to invest getting there?
- What is the best way to get there?
I believe that everyone should be doing something, on a regular basis, to care for his body. But not knowing what to do can lead to doing nothing, which is not a good option. At the bare minimum, everyone should get moving most days.
Do some cardio (move with the intention of increasing your heart rate) to keep your heart strong and do some strength exercises for the muscles of the torso. In the end, we all get to decide what we want to do with our bodies. Unless of course the body wears out and can no longer do what you want to do.
